That left the floating ark,
No branch of tree, ... or welcome nest . . . . .
Above the waers dark.
There is no rest, ... there is no rest, . . . .
There is no rest at all . . . .
Till weary sinners seek the cross, ...
And Christ is all . . . . in all.
There was no rest . . . . for Hebrew host, ...
Till o'er the Jordan's tide,
The Canaan land, . . . . they sought and found . . . .
Upon the other side.
There was no rest . . . . for Israel's king,...
Till God forgave . . . . . his sin,
And David thro' . . . . the open gate. . . . .
Of mercy entered in.
There was no rest . . . . for Magdalene, . . . .
Till she had found . . . . her Lord,
And heard again . . . . in Olivet, . . . .
The dear Redeemer's word
There is no rest . . . . from sin and care,...
