Of Timidity

D ON'T throw too many Stones investigating
The Thickness of the Ice; you'll spoil the Skating.

Excess of Caution may be indiscreet.
Test not the River's Depth with Both your Feet.

A B OG is not the Place to Stop and Think;
Trip fast across; who Hesitates may Sink.

I F swim you must, why seek to know
What Fathoms Deep the Stream may flow?

T HINK wisely, weighing Word and Fact,
But never Think too much to Act.
