Farewell, great soul—great player of great parts!
Knight-Errant of a most unknightly age,
Farewell! you died but to be born again,
Unto a larger fame;

And thus to live forever, in men's hearts,
As one full fit for that immortal stage
Trod by the deathless dead who left no stain
Upon an earthly name.
