Two legions battling in the blood

Two legions battling in the blood
Are struggling for the soul;
The one of evil, one of good,
Both grappling for the goal.

One pleading peace, one urging strife,
Lashed 'twixt the twain am I;
God grant the better angels life,
Bid the damn'd demons die.
