FOR THE TOMB OF THE AUTHOR'S FRIEND ,

CAPTAIN HOOD,

WHO WAS SLAIN, IN THE MOMENT OF VICTORY, IN THE MEMORABLE ACTION BETWEEN THE MARS AND THE HERCULE .

May ev'ry warrior, to his country dear,
Yield to the gallant Hood a manly tear!—
And let him think, while he beholds this stone,
When Britain calls, his life is not his own!
