The Valley Wind

Zip, zip the valley wind!
Nothing but wind and rain.
In days of peril, in days of dread
It was always " I and you. "
Now in time of peace, of happiness,
You have cast me aside.

Zip, zip the valley wind!
Nothing but wind and duststorms.
In days of peril, in days of dread
You put me in your bosom
Now in time of peace, of happiness
You throw me away like slop-water.

Zip, zip the valley wind
Across the rocky hills.
No grass but is dying,
No tree but is wilting.
You forget my great merits,
Remember only my small faults.
