Watchers in the Night
We are weak O Lord, and feeble,
Dim and dull our human sight,
Walking in the shifting shadows,
Weary watchers in the night
On the wonders of redemption,
Faith but gazes thro' her tears;
On the shining page of mercy,
Spreads the shadow of our fears.
Where thy hand, O Lord, would lead us,
Moving on with stumbling feet,
Finding but a weary mountain,
Seeing not the golden street.
Kindly Saviour, gently lead us,
Through the shadows to the light,
Till the dawning of the morning
Greets the watchers of the night.
Till the dawning of the morning,
Weary watchers in the night, . . . .
We are walking in the shifting shadows,
Weary watchers in the night.
Till the dawning of the morning bright and fair,
Weary watchers in the night, in the night.
Dim and dull our human sight,
Walking in the shifting shadows,
Weary watchers in the night
On the wonders of redemption,
Faith but gazes thro' her tears;
On the shining page of mercy,
Spreads the shadow of our fears.
Where thy hand, O Lord, would lead us,
Moving on with stumbling feet,
Finding but a weary mountain,
Seeing not the golden street.
Kindly Saviour, gently lead us,
Through the shadows to the light,
Till the dawning of the morning
Greets the watchers of the night.
Till the dawning of the morning,
Weary watchers in the night, . . . .
We are walking in the shifting shadows,
Weary watchers in the night.
Till the dawning of the morning bright and fair,
Weary watchers in the night, in the night.
