Weevily Wheat

I don't want none of your weevily wheat,
I don't want none of your barley,
I want some flour and half an hour
To bake a cake for Charlie.

2

Charlie he's a fine young man,
Charlie he's a dandy;
He loves to hug and kiss the girls
And feed 'em on good candy.

3

The higher up the cherry tree,
The riper grows the cherry;
The more you hug and kiss the girls,
The sooner they will marry.

4

Take her by the lily white hand,
And lead her like a pigeon,
Make her dance to " Weevily Wheat, "
And scatter her religion.

5

Trading boats have gone ashore,
Trading boats are landing;
Trading boats have gone ashore
Loaded down with candy.

6

'Way down yonder in the maple swamp,
Where the water's deep and muddy,
We'll dance and sing till broad daylight,
And won't get home till Sunday.

7

If you love me like I love you,
We'll have no time to tarry,
We'll have the old folks flying around,
Fixing for us to marry.

8

I have got a sweet little wife,
A wife of my own choosing;
Hug her neat and kiss her sweet
And go no more a-courting.
