Welcome

The banners of our County bright
Are waving in the breeze;
Now we are living in the light
That shines on distant seas;
And glory, in her fairest robes
Shines on the land we love —
For knowledge, in its upward flight,
Shines as the stars above.

Bright as the golden sunlight's gleam,
The future breaks in view;
And to the cause so dear, so grand —
Oh! may our hearts be true.
And, should a wave of sorrow come,
We'll not discouraged be;
But labor patiently and wait
'Till brighter days we see.

You ask me why I lift my voice,
It is no task to tell;
For o'er the distant hills and vales
I hear the village bell
In accents sweet proclaim the news,
So full of hope and cheer —
We have a worthy leader,
Our Superintendent dear.

We welcome you, " The people's choice "
To your most honored place;
Our hearts are glad, we must rejoice
And may time ne'er efface
The radiance of your noble work —
But may it, like the sun,
Illuminate the cause we love
Until your mission's done.
