A Young Astronomer's Gaze

As I gaze in the starry heaven of blue;
I see Orion and his neighbors two;
And of all the fixed stars, there
I see only a few,
And none are very new,
But as old as time is old
They twinkle, twinkle like coins of gold.

Way off there is Saturn and his rings,
And many other things;
The hare and the bull,
And the moon in full,
Does not dim the brightness there
Of the dog and the bear.

A menagerie quite,
Is the sky by night;
The bull and the bear,
And also the hare;
And Sirius, the dog, keeping watch up there.
