A Young Man Waits on Himself
In gray pants now I sit uncoated
Having lunched and drunk and said
Goodmorning to the landlord and his wife
And the avenue before me watched
Slattern and beauty beggar and proud man pass
And one creature asking as little as a smile
Chased off down to the points of my stare
And disappeared and I kept sitting there
A man speared by his shadow
And commanded myself to move and bring hither
What made no shadow when put against the sun.

What made no shadow when put against the sun.
