DRIVING INTO DANGER
As a solitary traveller, driving in one direction
An open road to yourself, as dawn is breaking
Seeing heavier traffic all coming the other way
Does it make you pause, and perhaps wonder
Whether they know something that you don’t
Perhaps an escape from some kind of disaster
All in slow moving lines, wanting to go faster
To get to safety, but worried that they won’t
Will chances of survival soon be cast asunder
Tight grip on a steering wheel, trying to pray
This could be a major incident in the making
Might I even I U-turn at the next intersection
