On the sea's edge she dances —
Her glistening body bare
Amid the light foam glances,
Foam-light with tossing hair,
Eager for all that chances
By land or sea or air.

She dances yet undreaming
Of life's oncoming tide:
Yet when wild waters streaming
Surge round her deep and wide,
Her soul foam-light and gleaming
Shall every danger ride.
