The world rolls on with her mighty load,
Along the dazzling star-lit road.

The rose lifts up her radiant head,
Full of love, and sweet and red.

The air is soft, the sky is bright,
The nightingale sings to the rose all night.

The war-god passes through the land
With his murderous cruel band.

The rose hangs down her fragrant head;
The nightingale is lying dead.

The world rolls on with her suffering load,
Along the dazzling star-lit road.
