Some villages have no sea-breams, no flowers;
But to-night's moon is seen in all villages.

Here at the Bay of Waka-no-ura.

A cloud of flowers! An evening bell booms.
At Ueno or at Asakusa?

Hearing a pheasant's cries,
How I longed for my dead parents!

Night has fall'n on the sea.
Wild ducks' voices are faint and white.

The water is so cold,
The gull can hardly go to sleep.
