Arion

Nautarum jussu se praecipitavit Arion
In mare cantator funeris ipse sui:
Delapsum recipit gelidis amplexibus aequor,
Fatorumque ferax undaque et unda tumet.
Sed Delphinus adest, — sed adest secumque salutem
Attulit et vati et squamea terga dedit
O hominum feritas! O mollia corda ferarum,

The Gateway

Death somehow doth not seem to be a thing
To me of terror and of shuddering,
But just a gateway opening upon
New fields, new scenes, and new ideas anon —
Or if 'tis not, who holds it blessing cheap
To lie at rest in peaceful, dreamless, sleep?

Hiraeth

Longing for them doth fade my cheek;
He was a man, and she was meek;
A lion was he, she full of glee;
He handsome was, she fair to see.
A wondrous concord here was view'd;
He was wise, and she was good;
He liberal was, she kind of mood;
To heaven he went, she him pursued.

Clouds

I want to pick you
Really, I really do
You are all sugary
Puffs and puffs of cotton candy
The sky is lucky
It can taste you every day
But me? I have nothing
I wish the sky would give me just one bite.

Seeking Causes

Neither drugs nor charms nor burnings will touch a deep-lying political sore any more than a bodily one; but only right and utter change of constitution;
And they do but lose their labor who think that by any tricks of law they can get the better of those mischiefs of commerce, and see not that they hew at a hydra.

Legislators

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; to turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!
And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?
