I am.

A prelude to Nike's "Am I a bad person?" commercial narration.

I wanted to be a “good” person.
I tried.

Was told that I shouldn’t cling to one dream, so I didn’t
Believed being transparent would beget the belonging I craved
Felt that being easygoing would lead me down the right path
Thought always to put others’ needs before mine.

This makes me a “good person”.
It’s what I told myself.

Gave everyone the benefit of doubt
Extended respect to all but myself
Forced down my throat acceptance of the existence I was creating.

Til' Death Do Us Part

Till death do us part
Those were the words that leaked from your mouth as i stared into your warm eyes
Your white gown flowed in the wind as we shared our eternal kiss
You promised we would take on life together so why
Why did you break that promise my love
Why is it that i'm still here, still clinging onto the life you gave me and you get to rest so peacefully
That day i saw you
Had i known it would be our last i would have made you stay
Had i just tried harder to stop you from getting in the car

and garden flowers may lose their bright hues,
but still let’s revel in the remainder,
as its sunshine spirit still somehow reigns

I Dived Into The Cauldron Of Magic Potion And

Catapulted into seething temperatures beyond the imagination
risking excitement in escapades that may seem inane,
potential hazard weighted against predicament predestined,
at some future stage I might peer backwards and reassess,
initial impetuousness under caustic supernatant thumbnail,
maybe I might indeed blush with profound mortification,
a recondite feverish facial blush in a notional rear mirror,
within a wide sweep of  circumspect gargantuan rational,
I might gingerly sanction an avid  zealous gumption,

Fermentation

Her voice, it made no sound.
Her feet, they could not walk.
Yet you heard what you wanted.
Even though she could not talk.

She could not run from you.
The poison far too strong.
You played to her a melody.
Forcing her to play along.

Your ears may only hear.
That of what your eyes will see.
You never noticed prices.
You’d take what you want for free.

But prices still exist here.
And someone has to pay.
There will be no more waiting.
The collectors come today.

She closed her eyes real tight.
