Just another night

by Hiraeth

Quilt of black, whirlpool of silence, squished roses
She falls into a pretend sleep.
Quivering limbs, thumping heart, crawling skin
Please don't let him be here!
Foetal curl, headphones on full blast, blanket cocoon
He traces his fingers over the ball of fear.
Glistening teeth, scraping nails, piercing glare
She wills him into non-existence.
Sunny days, laughter of loved ones, emanating aura in all colours bright
He kneads into her clavicles trails of pain.
Heart-warming moments, applause and kind words, dizzying adventures
The beastly hands now encircle her throat.
Twitching, gagging, glimmer of satisfaction
He won't exist if she doesn't believe so.
Fiery red, maniacal laughter, shrinking world
He uncoils the serpentine girl in one shove.
Glistening eyes, throaty welcome, imminent doom
Eyes scrunched shut she counts her breath.
One...one...one, one...one...one, collapsing faculties
She tries kicking him off as his forehead grazes hers.
Midnight blue, a million whispers, cold, damp breath
She still has time before he pins her down.
Raven, suffocating silence, coffin of concrete
One coruscant strand of light is all she needs to purge him.
Ominous void, deafening blood rush, arms of him
She delves the depths for that one sliver over and over.
Sympathetic eyes, familiar beckoning, frigid embrace
She surrenders to him, no fight left in her.
Depression smiles at his predestined victory for he knew she'd only fight so much
Conjoined tunnels of dark, muffled sobs, bottled claustrophobic soul.
