The Fals fox came unto our croft

The fals fox came unto our croft,
And so our geese full fast he sought.
With how fox, how; with hey fox, hey!
Come no more unto our house to bere our geese aweye!

The fals fox came unto our stye,
And toke our geese ther by and by.

The fals fox cam into our yerde,
And ther he made the geese aferde.

The fals fox came unto our gate,
And toke our geese ther wher they sate.

The fals fox came unto our halle-dore,
And shrove our geese ther in the flore.

The fals fox came into our halle,
And assoiled our geese both grete and small.

The fals fox came unto our coupe,
And ther he made our geese to stoupe.

He toke a goose fast by the nek,
And the goose tho began to quek.

The good-wife came out in her smok,
And at the fox she threw her rok.

The good-man came out with his flaile,
And smote the fox upon the taile.

He threw a goose upon his back,
And furth he went tho with his pak.

The good-man swore if that he might,
He wolde him slee or it wer night.

The fals fox went into his denne,
And ther he was full mery thenne.

He came agene yet the next weke,
And toke awey both henne and cheke.

The good-man saide unto his wife,
" This fals fox liveth a mery life. "

The fals fox came upon a day,
And with our geese he made affray.

He toke a goose fast by the nek,
And made her to sey, " Wheccumquek! "

" I pray thee, fox, " seid the goose tho,
" Take of my feders but not of my to. "
