Honour Lost By Keeping It

I.

If you stand on your Honesty,
 Your Honour, Faith, and True Love too,
Your Love, my Due, you can't deny,
 But you must more dishonest grow,
To keep from me, what you, to my Love ow:

II.

Never pretend to Honour more,
 By which, your Word, Faith, Oath, you break,
Yield to me, on your Honour's score;
 To save your Word, and Credit let me take,
Your Virtue from you, for your Honour's sake.

III.

But if your Faith, (against your Oath)
 That's due to mine, you will expose,
To save your Fame, wou'd break your Troth;
 Your Honour, your Dishonour grows,
Which you, the more you keep it from me, lose.
