At Last

At last, at last, the precious friend
She would have died to save,
Grew strangely kind, we saw him bend
Above her peaceful grave
With ferns and flowers. She did not wake
His tardy gifts to see or take.

At last, at last, the precious friend
She would have died to save,
Grew strangely kind, we saw him bend
Above her peaceful grave
With ferns and flowers. She did not wake
His tardy gifts to see or take.
