Reflections on a Day Spent Outside

rippling light reflects from her eyes,
her hair; how ’tis possible that i
may see this graceful heart in form?

not merely once my heart swings forth,
draws back; doth she see the thoughts i keep
inside my mouth, my head?

if only my feelings should stand and speak,
not stammer; yet what more could be said
’cept the light, so brilliant, in our eyes?

the sounds of the water are singing,
are glad; this pleasant place has housed
her heart to see, so lovely.

and we have come away in song.
