To the Right Honourable George, Earle of Rutland, Lord Rosse of Hamelake, Belvoir and Trusbutt

Great honour'd Peere, and Rutlands Noble Earle,
Ever in vertue shining like a Pearle
Over all Europe , adding to your birth,
Radiant bright beames of your true honour'd worth;
Gem great and precious, see you are remaining,
Ever the rayes of vertues beames retaining,

Making all Europe stand amazed quite,
And wonder much at Rutlands glorious light.
Nor as a Green Gem let your Insire be,
No, greenesse here betokens Levity .
Evermore as a precious Gem remaine you,
Red, or some orient colour still retaine you;
So nor as Green Gem , will the world proclaime you.
