To the Right Honourable John Earle of Rothers, Lord Lesley and Bainbrigh

I honour you who have a wholy line ,
O noble Lord, so nobly you incline;
Having a line of vertues in you bred,
Noting an Hero, to high honour'd bed.

Lives Prudence, Temperance, Justice, Fortitude,
Entred upon your soule where with indu'd,
So lively you do truly luster forth,
Like a great Lord, the trophies of your worth.
Entred in you there is besides in fine,
Your Faith, Hope, Charity, se holy line .
