A Story

Two silhouettes
at the night express:
a man and woman.
They meet. They kiss.

In the next window
a man sits alone.
A gypsy, hand on his face,
sullen as stone.

Next scene: A cafe.
The man and the woman laugh,
pour wine into two glasses,
share an apple cut in half.

At the next table
the gypsy. He also splits
his apple in two; wine in two
glasses and sips.

Last act: A hotel window shows
gypsy and woman embracing now
In the other window our hero alone,
wild and wild-haired, silent as stone.
