La resverie or Loves Winter Seege

The Martiall Swed, with Lap, and Finland joyne
To break the ice, and winter on the Rhine
Which Season ne're was wont
T'receive such an Affront
But when it's single Couler't did display
All quitt the Field and run away
The Drum could beat
Nothing save a retreat
And evry-one
Did follow into Garrison
But sithence ore-come by Armes
Lett noe man doubt but that ther may be Charmes
To thaugh It's frozen beard; the God
Of warr was whipt sometimes with Myrtle rod
And Julia flinges
In Snow her Stinges
The little winged Captain's all the year
In armes, nor is the Springes peculier
And though he meet with frost-bound Harts
His fiery darts
Can melt them, and make passage for His warr
As Haniball through th'Alpes, with Vinegar.

Sharp weather is a spurr to make
All slothful lovers to forsake
Their drowsy homes and to this leaguer run
Wher whilst they seek to conquer they are won
For as the breach unguarded lies
Guiving invitement to their enterprise
So doe th'beseeged under it contrive
A mine to play and blow them up alive.
