Not all will decipher this tirade of mine,
Many will hear a lunatic’s rant, senseless garbage,
But I carry on,
For the sake of the few who speak my language,
Who have tasted this bitter-sweet cup I have downed for two decades,
Who will comprehend after just a snif, a phrase, a line
For the sake of the ones with whom I intend to share my heart,
Lend out my burden for a hand, for just a while,
I carry on,
I lay it out there.
Two decades come to a close and that face is even clearer,
The heart beats louder,
The yearning grows deeper,
Fed by deprivation and availability alike,
Hunger leaves a footprint as fresh as the day I first saw you,
Though many waters have passed under the bridge
Spouses, relatives and friends have come and gone,
Deliberate fights for self-control,
Erasure of stored personal data,
Resolution to retract tentacles of communication,
All proved abortive time and time again.
Drastic moves to annihilate this worm, this cactus,
To destroy the fire-spitting dragon of hearts,
To tame the leviathan dwelling in depths unfathomable,
Have yielded little positive results.
Time has become a tortoise,
Revealing long hidden entrails of the heart in slow motion,
Exposing the powerlessness of resolve
And laying helplessness bare on the drawing table.
What do men do in a solution-less situation?
Where the unborn child has gone out of the womb,
Only to get stuck on his way to the birth-canal;
A quickened emergency develops, to cut open,
To remove and save lives,
The knife must drip blood again!
To cut hearts open again!
To expunge the forever standing, un-budging bond,
Hearts and bodies stand limp,
And helplessness reigns as the order of the day.
