Things that my mind draws to it are really not mine,
These are but a burden on the luster and the shine
Holiness is all I want of which I'm poor of heart
Shattered, devastated by the Devil's dirty dart.
Come, I am a lonely man who cannot stand alone
Haven't on the Cross my Lord, all my sins you've borne
Redeem me and entrust me to my guardian angel dear
I wouldn't let you go my Lord; Let my paths be clear.
All day I work and move around in danger and the pain
Evening I recline and think, Is not all in vain?
What have I run after? Is it not just wind?
Give me meaning, Oh my Lord I in truth have sinned.
For I heard it said aloud from high upon the hill
Blessed are the pure in heart for God to see they will
Blessed are they those who mourn for they will comfort see
Blessed are the meek for them the Earth in full will be.
Blessed they for righteousness who hunger and have thirst
Fulfilled and satisfied they'll be and never be accursed
Blessed are the merciful for they shall find it more
Blessed poor in spirit be my kingdom's yours for sure.
How did I now come to life just musing on your Word?
What a lovely day it is, I'm singing like a bird -
The Way, the Life the Truth you are - always at my side
In tranquil peace and comfort Lord in you will I abide.
