They smiled so bright, they spoke so sweet,
I thought their friendship was a treat.
But behind my back, they played a game,
Using my trust, without any shame.
Their words were kind, but hearts were cold,
Their promises broke, their stories old.
They stood with me when skies were blue,
But left when storms came rolling through.
A friend should stay, both thick and thin,
Not leave when there is nothing to win.
I’ve learned my lesson, now I see,
Not all who smile are true to me.
Better alone than fooled again,
I’ll choose my friends with care till then
