Give me a sword and I’d be a knight
Dawned in armor befitting a man
Made to protect the weak
Give me a pen and I’d be a poet
Shaping worlds wrapped in ink
With words fragile and unweilding
Give me an education and I’d be a scholar
Uncovering earths of the past
Finely coated in the mystery of ignorance
Give me a voice and I’d be a speaker
Profoundly throwing ideas
That others feared would shatter the walls around us
Give me nothing and I’d be nothing
Drifting through one chaotic subsequent event to the other
Never knowing what it would be like to be given a name.
Give me a pair of glasses and I’d be a seer
Finding the things too far away
Set in places too close to our hearts
Give me a gun and I’d be a killer
Itching with my fingers
To take lives and store them away in metal casings
Give me a phone and I’d be a talker
Ringing in the ears of invention
Forever setting the world apart in connection
Give me a mask and I’d be a thief
Grabbing at the desires of many
Within the reach of some too timid to reach
Give me Everything and I’d be human
Never knowing the extent
Of the things I’m given
