i had this story idea
when i was younger
a historical fiction

the only quote i came up with
was “no one will hear you if you sit in silence”
told probably by an older character to the main character
she was supposed to be fighting for herself and those in her situation

but the exact plot is besides my current point

my point is that line was something i hadn’t actually come to terms with yet
how often then did i sit in silence and expect someone to hear me

and how much have i grown since then
still never having written that particular book
but actually understanding what young me’s words meant

i am heard now because i speak
