the universe
in millions of bits
of an infant's eyes

in the courtyard
between the gods
the water never ends

it is my face
and yours together
in water as one

eyes never closing
we hide but cannot forget
the sideways glances

free as the sea
the wind-blown salt
that seasons the earth

I hold you
with lotus hands
that cover your eyes

as you baptize
yourself within the water
green as the earth
