I’m in an ocean,
Drowning in my fear and my pain.
How can I swim,
When darkness continues to rain,
The waters surround me,
My chains are dragging me down.
If there’s a God,
Please don’t let me drown.
But,
Love is my life-vest,
Peace is my shore,
The sporadic winds of purposeful thought,
Move me ever slowly towards.
And though I truly am alone,
I’ll try to let go and say,
“There’s freedom in my power to choose,
If I live yet another day.”
I’m drifting farther,
In these waters, I feel so alone.
The apathy is tempting,
Maybe I’ll make it my home.
A pseudo-peace,
A place where my lies comfort me.
If there’s a god,
Why not set me free?
Nay,
Love is my life-vest,
Peace is my shore,
The sporadic winds of purposeful thought,
Move me ever slowly towards.
And though I truly am alone,
I’ll try to let go and say,
“There’s freedom in my power to choose,
If I live yet another day.”
