A force 

When we heard the same song

With my trembling knees 

We kept our balance
for a time

Distance stopped being measured in miles

I blamed your idle hands 

As I squinted 

From stray grains of sand

Afraid of wasting time

I kept going 
 

Instead of

taking a break
 

Instead of 

letting you carry the weight 

I'll never let this secret slip

We both 
without you knowing

fell separately together
