Let me tell you a story.
I am sure you have heard it before.
About a girl who became a woman and didn’t know who she was anymore.
The loss of an identity played off all too well.
Whose name became something else.
And there she was,
Only meant to be called that forever more.
Her likes and dislikes were discarded, while emotions went haywire.
Consumed by her new occupation filled with sleepless nights, it all left her feeling dire.
She tried to divide her time up equally,
But the expectations of society became overwhelming.
So the new territory of emotions caused her emotions to keep fluctuating.
She was meant to always be loving—
Unconditionally.
They keep saying this repeatedly.
As if the job is just a normal 9-5 daily session.
This girl cried when it first all came into fruition.
It all sunk into her and then
Time passed.
And she began to heal from her initial fear of failure.
She became less intimidated during the months it took to get settled–
Into the role she had wanted, of course.
A moment planned before she knew.
Her Fate was determined by her Creator .
Racking her mind, her mothers words came forth.
“You will understand when you are a parent”, they echoed in her head.
Reverberating into her soul and filling her chest.
Oh she got it now mama, and can’t ever fault you.
Exchanging her freedom for the hardest job anyone could ever commit to.
Becoming an everlasting well, filled deep with love and empathy
Always an open door to anyone who needs it.
A therapist most days, even though she is the one who needs it.
It’s mind boggling at times, if you contemplate.
Day and night, her mind is constantly wracked with worries.
A love so underestimated and underappreciated, it is scary.
She was shocked at the evermounting tasks to take on when she first came into the position.
But now she has been around the block a few times, so she has come to the decision.
To be okay with where she is every day and be kind to herself always.
A girl who changed into a woman,
Forever.
Always not referred to by her name anymore.
She now carries the new identity with pride.
How could she not, after all?
Her favorite people gifted it to her.
Blessing her with the honorary title of ‘Mother’.
