RATIONALE

What’s the point of living
Is it to survive and thrive
Perhaps just to procreate
To secure a willing mate
Feeling joy at being alive
Or even rejoice in giving

Who are we to understand
Maybe it is beyond us all
Unless it was ever our role
And analysis was our goal
Ever since a man stood tall
Even becoming a firebrand

More than just for learning
A brain’s conscious thought
A sure source of celebration
A product of our realisation
And that answer we sought
For years it left us yearning

Using the power we possess
It is our duty not to ignore
Wisdom so painfully gained
To be shared and explained
Of our destiny we are sure
So we can be more, not less
