Year
CYCLES
Autumn does not make amends
Now as failing daylight descends
We all know when summer ends
But that’s what we’ve been told
The leaves turn brown and gold
That chance for quiet reflection
A reality check as Winter comes
Rain and hail like beating drums
Cold comfort, but do the sums
After Fall and the welcome rest
Nature imposing its annual test
To confirm a seasonal direction
Then as everything comes alive
For growth, all things will strive
Finally, Spring and hope arrive
Buds and flowers appear again
It’s a mix of sunshine and rain
All waits, ready for inspection
Some days of summer sunshine
A few at least, most being fine
As a bountiful harvest is a sign
That the cycle’s now complete
Although it’s never always neat
Respecting natural imperfection
