When we met, you promised you'd always love me. Always you said, always you'd be there. But soon I saw the other side of you in me, And then I realized I've lost someone so dear. When I asked for the reason behind your silence, You replied you needed some space between us, Some space alone you said, in your pretense To stir the path of a painless course. Though the thought of your absence tortures me, Still I'd rather let the hurtful feelings run Into several lines and verses of poetry Than bear them on my skin as burns from the sun. Now that you've turned your eyes away from me And I'm left with the pang and neglect of love I will write of the world crumbling within me And the little disagreement you failed to resolve. I'll write of the ache I feel in my heart, and all The things you've done that make me bleed Perhaps your vows and promises you will recall And with a penitent heart profess a new creed.
