Poems from the Henn Manuscript - Part 15

Dead to you,
Dead to your light,
Quick to a hopeless night
Just broken through
By casual eyes staring a pitiless wonder
By horrid sprites lurking above and under
The folded mist,
Ah eyes whose depths an angel smile hath kissed,
That hour they lighten thus, if you be gone,
I must be dead indeed — if you be gone,
Unlighted, left to die away alone.
