Vew Evenens Alike

Vew evenentides in all the year
Do vall alike in ev'ry way,
Alike in clouds the skies do show
In all their glowen dyes,
An' winds a-blowen, low or high,
Or east or west, or wet or dry.

Wi' birds the seäme to gripe the bark,
Or pipe on boughs a-leav'd or beäre,
Or cows, a-benden round their backs,
In rest about the ground,
Below the moon, as thin a bow
Or vull, wi' stars as high or low.

Nor yet wi' ev'ry pleäce to show
Each feäce wi' all his looks ageän,
Nor tongues to sound the seäme gaÿè words
An' call ageän each neäme,
Nor dousty leäne, nor dewy flow'r
Below the veet, the self-seäme hour.

If noo sweet night do vall to men
Wi' all avoreday show'd their minds,
Then how shall happy cheer outlast
The many-nighted year?
An' how shall we be still the seäme
Vor years, but in our soul an' neäme?
