Desires

Like beautiful bodies of the dead, who had not grown old
and they shut them with tears, in a magnificent mausoleum,
with roses at the head and jasmine at the feet --
that is how desires look that have passed
without fultillment; without one of them having achieved
a night of sensual delight, or a moonlit morn.

Desire

Maidens with voices like honey for sweetness, that breathe desire,
See I faint; for no sea-bird I, as I would be, nor tire
Over the foam-flowers flying with halcyons ever on wing,
Keeping a careless heart, a sea-blue bird of the Spring.

Der Stille See

Die Felsen rings bewahren den stillen dunkeln See,
Und auf den Gipfeln schimmert der zarte Sommerschnee.
Der stille See getreulich läßt jedes Rlatt erscheinen,
Die Treue ist zu schauen im Friedlichen und Reinen.
